Pets: why is the Bear worse than Pyreon and Bunny Band

I feel like pets like Bear, Frostbite Arach, and Wind Dog create an illusion of sorts: it seems like getting an extra Elite skill gives you a huge advantage. However, in reality, most weapons only have about three truly useful Elite skills. Take the Spray weapon for example: its base "set of three" consists of the Descent, Mini and Insight skills; obtaining any other Elite skills will practically not change anything. The real problem is that by choosing Bear, you lose the ability to take pets like Pyreon or Bunny Band, companions that offer extremely powerful and reliable base skills.
