Cross-Server Transfer: ranks, thresholds and quotas

How Cross-Server Transfer works: where your rank comes from, what a server quota is, and why stripping gear before the rating stopped working on October 1.

In short

  • Your transfer rank is recalculated on the 1st and 15th of each month at 00:00. It is based on your all-time highest Power, not on your Power at the moment of the rating.
  • So taking off gear before the rating is pointless: your rank is still taken from your maximum.
  • You are compared only with players from your server range. The range is shown at the top of the transfer screen.
  • Every server has a limited number of slots for each rank. Local players of that rank take those slots too, not only players who moved in.
  • Current thresholds and a calculator: Transfer zone.

Player ranks

Your rank depends on where your Power stands among the players of your range. The shares are cumulative: Pinnacle is the top 5 %, Paragon goes down to 12 %, and so on.

Rank Place in the range Slots per server Transfer cost
Pinnacle top 5 % 5 60 Transfer Passes
Paragon down to 12 % 7 40
Outstanding down to 25 % 20 30
Elite down to 55 % 40 20
Normal everyone else 120 10

The rules text calls Paragon "King" in places. It is the same rank.

The Power thresholds depend on the range and go up from one rating to the next: players get stronger, so you have to grow too just to keep your rank. Example for global servers 1-1000 after the October 15 rating: Pinnacle from about 1.76B, Paragon from about 790M, Outstanding from about 360M. Check the current numbers for your range on the Transfer zone page. It also has a calculator: enter your Power and see your rank now and the forecast for the next rating.

By our estimate the shares are counted from the active players of the range; abandoned accounts do not count. Servers younger than 100 days are not part of the range.

Why stripping gear no longer works

The rank used to be calculated from your Power at the moment of the rating. Some players took off their gear right before 00:00 on the 1st and 15th, got a lower rank, moved for a lower cost and got into servers where the slots of their real rank were already full.

Now the rules say it directly: "All players are ranked based on their all-time highest Power". Removing gear lowers your current Power, but your maximum stays the same. On the night of October 1 the total server Power in the rating jumped: on RU-1 from 98B to 135B, on RU-55 from 56B to 77B. That is the switch to counting by maximum showing up in the numbers.

You can no longer lower your own rank. It can only drop if the thresholds grow past your maximum.

Quota: slots on a server

Open a server in the transfer list. The Quota block has five numbers, one per rank: how many slots of that rank are still free on the server.

  • The slots are taken by every player of that rank on the server. If a server already has five Pinnacles of its own, a sixth cannot move in until someone leaves or drops in rank.
  • A 5 in the Pinnacle column means the server has no Pinnacle players at all. It is a server with few strong players.
  • You can apply only if the column of your rank is above zero. Otherwise you see "Transfer Unavailable".
  • Slot expansion: if the Pinnacle or Paragon slots on a server are full after a rating, one more free slot is added. This repeats up to a cap (at most 25 slots).

The quota is recalculated at the same rating, on the 1st and 15th.

Server rating

Servers are rated too, by Power among the servers of the range:

Status Server within the range Can move in
Prosperous top 10 % yes
Lively down to 30 % yes
Active down to 60 % yes
Desolate everyone else no

You cannot move to a Desolate server, but you can leave one for free. The rules text calls these servers Low-Population.

How to transfer

  1. Leave your guild. You cannot apply while you are in a guild.
  2. Find a server with a free slot in your rank's column and apply. You need Transfer Passes equal to your rank's cost. One application at a time, and you must not have another character on that server.
  3. The application is valid for 48 hours. The leader of the server's strongest guild approves it. During that time you cannot join a guild. You can withdraw the application.
  4. After approval, log in and confirm the transfer within 24 hours, otherwise you have to apply again.
  5. After moving there is a 30-day cooldown before you can apply again.

What you lose: your character is removed from every leaderboard on the old server, and you rank up again on the new one. In Wasteland Battlefield your Hall of Fame, leaderboard and occupied resource site data are cleared. If you are a Faction Leader there, hand over leadership first. You cannot move during the City Clash phase or the leaderboard settlement phase. Event data is kept, except for events that unlock by server age.

FAQ

I stripped my gear on the 15th, why didn't my rank drop?
Your rank is based on your highest Power of all time. Stripping gear for rank does not work anymore.

Why am I Paragon when my Power was Pinnacle level last time?
The thresholds go up every two weeks. Compare your Power with the current numbers on the Transfer zone.

The quota is 0, but nobody moved to that server. Why?
Local players of that rank took the slots. The quota shows free slots, not how many people moved in.

When will my progress affect my rank?
At the next rating, on the 1st or 15th at 00:00.
