Enigma Machine

The Enigma cipher machine is a mechanical cipher machine widely used during World War II, invented by German engineer Arthur Scherbius in the 1920s. It was used to encrypt and decrypt sensitive military and diplomatic communications and was considered one of the most complex and secure cryptosystems of its time. The principle of the Enigma cipher is based on the combination of a rotating motor and a series of adjustable knobs. By setting a specific combination of knobs, the input plaintext is converted into encrypted ciphertext. The position settings of these knobs need to exactly match the receiver's cipher machine in order to correctly decrypt the ciphertext. The complexity of the Enigma cipher machine lies in its internal mechanical structure and variable cipher settings, making it extremely difficult to decipher its cipher.
